Crackers and Milk

Okay so I admit this really isn't a 'recipe' but it is one of my favorite snacks!

All you need is two ingredients
Crackers
Milk

Hard right

So you pour a glass of milk (any kind)

and then you dunk in your favorite cracker:)

You could do grahams

(my favorite)
any variety is great!
I prefer honey but the cinnamon make a great milk drink when the crackers are gone

OR  you could crush up some of these saltines

and eat away- I like my crackers still to be crunchy but I know some who like them soggy

or you could duck a few of these babies

now I know these are probably considered more of a cookie than cracker but hey they are still delicious!

Sorry this is posted kinda late- my husband has the flu and so it has been fun keeping the kids away from 'daddy' so they don't get sick- it's so sad:(

What do you like to dunk in milk??

CSN Review

So.. I was contacted by  CSN to do another review for them!! YAY! LOVE their stuff!   CSN Stores has over 200 online stores where you can find anything you need whether it be lights, fitness equipment, or even cute cookware

I am serious when I say they have everything!

So this time around what should I get?
I am thinking maybe this:

We really need to eat more veggies

Or maybe this?? Sweets are always good too!

What would you get??

So you don't have a Silhouette...

So (if you are like me) and don't have a Silhouette... ever feel left out from some cute crafts because you don't have one?

I have.

I think how cool it would be to win one- or get a used one from someone who is trying to overcome the addiction-

if that is you please leave me your contact information below and I would LOVE to help you combat the problem!

So as I have been doing a new year deep clean- has been wonderful to now know where EVERYTHING is!!
Except this one item that is driving me nuts!!! anyone else ever completly loose something in their own house??? Please tell me I am not the only one!!

So I was feeling kinda bummed about using some bins I had bought but no Silhouette machine to label them with- or vinyl letters to buy (Riverton, Wyoming is very limited in craft supplies!)

So I thought

and thought

and wished to win a Silhouette

but didn't

and then I had it!!

Ever seen those rolls of cupboard paper? The colored, design-y contact paper?

Would that make labels??
I just had to find out.

Sorry about the blurry pic my cell phone is definitely dying:(

So I went to my local Wal-mart and looked at the choices- so many huh??

I LOVE the red check but didn't think it would be that versatile and might make the lettering a little hard to read so I chose the neutral tan.

I cut out a 5 X 7 piece

In my Photoshop...
have I mentioned I LOVE my Photoshop?

I typed up the phrases I wanted and then reversed the image and printed on the BACK of the contact/laminate

This first batch was a little small so I enlarged it and tried it agai.

I cut them out
(-make sure you choose a big bold like font with easy edges!)

I used Pharmacy- not completely simple but a little fun for me

I peeled of the back - you should have seen my floor after all the letters were peeled off!

and placed them on my tub and ....
Viola!!!

My own, version of vinyl labels!!

And of course my favorite tub was the first completed!

So the next time you get Silhouette envy - it happens- just head to your local store or thrift shop and look for some fun contact/laminate paper and go to town!

This was definitly one of those 'feel good' crafts because I put the work in and it came out just like I had hoped!

Now.... someday I will win one of those Silhouettes but its not going to hold me back:)

This has been one bitter cold winter!
2. What room do you tend to put off cleaning until last?
My spare room! It is the catch-all for EVERYTHING! I hate how it all piles up and just put it of forever. When it gets clean I get soo happy!
3. Do you like to clean with music on or off?
Totally with music! I love to sing and dance around while I clean- I figure its my workout for the day:)
4. When do you take time to blog?
Mornings- first thing or right before I head off to bed

Oh, a LOT! I am trying to cut back but there are soo much cute stuff everyone makes!!

So what are your answers??

Look what came in the mail....

Guess what showed up in the mail....

Remember this post

My order from CSN stores!!

I decided to buy a clothes drying rack

(since I think my doors are getting tired of doing the job! )

and I LOVE it!!

It holds up all my shirts and pants (I am so tall- any shrinkage would be disastrous!) so neat and the best part is it fits perfecting in my little utility nook in our apartment!!

Isn't it cute??

and I have already gotten plenty of use out of it for the little guy!

Can you say Toy Story fanatic??

So if you want one click here

or just check out CSN for anything!

The really do have everything!

* I wasn't paid for this review. I was given the product free to review and have presented my honest opinion.

Yummy Ginger Snaps

I think these have to be my FAVORITE cookie!!!

They are just so fun! Crunchy or chewy, sweet with a bit of tang, perfection!
Hope you enjoy these like I do!!

Brer Rabbit Molasses Cookies

2 cubes margarine
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 salt
2 tsp. baking soda

Melt margarine and let cool; add sugar, molasses and egg. Mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Refrigerate till mixture is very stiff.

Roll into balls and roll in sugar.

Bake on GREASED backing sheet for 6-8 minutes at 375 degrees.

You can bake them soft or crunchy- you preference!!

* I usually don't have cloves on hand so I don't put it in and they still taste great- I tried a dash of pumpkin pie spice ones- worked great!
* This recipe can be used with Wheat flour and applesauce substitutes :)

Talk of the Week

Faith—the Choice is Yours

By: Richard C. Edgley

I saw the title for this talk and for some reason just felt like I should read it and I am soo glad I did! It is a wonderful talk and was written so beautifully.
The main message of course it that faith is a CHOICE!! These were some of my favorite quotes:

This is our opportunity to choose.

I love this- it is our OPPORTUNITY to choose.

Be aware that faith is not a free gift given without thought, desire, or effort. It does not come as the dew falls from heaven. The Savior said, “Come unto me” (Matthew 11:28) and “Knock, and it shall be [given] you” (Matthew 7:7). These are action verbs—come, knock. They are choices. So I say, choose faith. Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen, and choose faith over pessimism.

I love the power faith can provide. That last sentence is just so absolute! If we choose faith we can overcome all of our weaknesses. One of mine is pessimism. I sometimes start thinking of everything that is wrong and just continue to let that be my judge for the future and go on and on about how terrible everything is going to be because of my bad morning (okay, this really only happens for an hour or so .. but you see my point?) By letting myself get into those ruts I am choosing doubt over faith. I am choosing fear over faith. I am choosing pessimism over faith. Sounds a lot worse doesn't it.

Yes, faith is a choice, and it must be sought after and developed. Thus, we are responsible for our own faith. We are also responsible for our lack of faith. The choice is yours.

This is the best- I love the hope and power that is placed in our hands! It is OUR choice! We can make it everyday, every minute, every second. We DECIDE and it is a process. Faith doesn't happen all at once- it is after the trial of our faith that we see the light, see the miracle that has brought us to this point.

This week, (hopefully) or sometime next week we will hear back from the University of Wyoming about whether or not my husband has been accepted into the Master's program. We really, really want to be accepted (this is our second year applying) and it just feels like the path we are supposed to go. However, there is always the "what if you don't get in?" I think I needed this article to inspire me to have faith in my Heavenly Father that he DOES have a plan for each of us and that if we truly desire to know -and work to find it- we will. After all, faith without works is dead. I hope that this has maybe helped you guys as much has it has helped me. And, if you get a moment, please send a little prayer our way?

I would LOVE to hear any stories or thoughts this brought to your memory!

Shredded Chicken (or pork) EASY!!!

So I found this recipe from Frugal and Focused...
tried it ...
fell in love...
and will never eat out for Mexican again....
okay maybe I will..  but now I KNOW HOW to do it at home too!!

Now it is soo simple, easy and yummy! I always dreaded the thought of making my own shredded chicken because it looked like soooo much work! (Quick and easy recipes are my friends) but this does it all!!

Now are you ready??

really???

Okay here it is!

Shredded Chicken Taco Meat
(or pork)

1 cup chicken broth
1 packet taco seasoning
1 lb. skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 4) or 1 lb. boneless pork chops

Place all ingredients in crock pot. Turn on low. Cook for 6-8 hours. Touch with fork and chicken will just fall apart!! Add to tortillia shell with all your other favorite fillings (mine are lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese) Grill if you desire and top with sour cream and salsa!! HMMM!!

You can freeze the leftovers too!!

Now isn't that just easy?? Now you try it and you'll be amazed at how yummy your house smells and how satisfied you tummy gets! :)

Talk of the Week

This weeks talk if by Pres. Uchtdorf entilted "Of Things That Matter Most"

This was a great talk! I love how Pres. Uchtdorf begins with the rings of a tree trunk and how scientists can tell climate and environmental conditions hundreds of years ago based on these rings.

Then he says "At this point some of you may be thinking, 'That's all fine and good, but what does it have to do with flying an airplane?' Well, let me tell you."

I love his sense of humor!!

He then goes on to talk of turbulence and how when flying some may think that speeding up to get through the turbulence faster would be the wisest thing to do when in most cases it is the opposite. They must slow down to maintain the optimum penetration.

That is how we sometimes live life. When things start to go crazy we think "oh if only I speed up and get all this done-then I can have fun." As Pres. Uchtdof says, "When stress levels rise, when distress appears, when tragedy strikes, too often we attempt to keep up the same frantic pace or even accelerate, thinking somehow that the more rushed our pace, the better off we will be."

This really hit home for me. With school, two young boys, a home, and my calling at church, I sometimes find myself saying "oh just get it all done and then I can rest!" I have been so guilty of this lately!!

Pres. Uctdorf says, "There is a beauty and clarity that comes from simplicity that we sometimes do not appreciate in our thirst for intricate solutions."  Again I think he was talking to me!

Here I am trying to find all these 'solutions' to my stresses and tasks when maybe I just need to simplify my life- its okay if dinner is not completly homemade every night, its okay if the boys (and me) stay in our pjs all day (very once in a while), its okay if I don't get everything done, and the list can go on and on!!

Pres. Uchtdorf lists 4 basics that can helps us simplify and get back to what is most important in life.

1. Build our relationship with God- it is most sacred and vital
"We improve our relationship with our Heavenly Father by learning of Him, by communing with Him, by repenting of our sins, and by actively following Jesus Christ, for 'no man cometh unto the Father, but by Christ."
Reading our scriptures and praying daily are such simple but profound things we can do each day to keep us in the proper perspective! Life is so much easier when I remember to do these things!!

2. Build our relationships with our families "no other failure can compensate for failure in the home."
I think he says if best "In family relationships, love is really spelled T-I-M-E. Taking time for each other is key to harmony in the home."
I know I have a lot of things I need to get done but when I take the time to spend with my boys- life is just soo much better!!

3. Build our relationship with our fellowmen- one person at a time
Pres. Uchtdorf says we do this by "being sensitive to the needs of others, serving them, and giving of our time and talents."
Service is so important. I truly have a testimony that 'when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17)
4. Build a relationship with ourselves- get to know your self better.
He says, "Some people can't get along with themselves. They criticize and belittle themselves al lday long until they begin to hate themselves. May I suggest that you reduce the rush and take a little extra time to get to know yourself better... Learn to see yourself as Heavenly Father sees you- as His precious daughter or son with divine potential."

Man, did this one hit home!! I am constantly criticizing myself for all the things I don't get done (ie cleaning the house) or the things I did but shouldn't have (ie losing my temper) and by the end of some days - I really don't like myself!! I am trying to do better and learn more about myself- that is partly why I started the blog to be honest. I wanted to see what would happen to me- would I find things that I do because I like to do them? Such as crafting and cooking? Would I actually complete some of my goals- like this Talk of the Week series? I am trying to find my talents so that I can use them to benefit those around me and become a better person.

The ending is my favorite- divine potential. If we all really understood what that means- WOW!! I think we would have the power to do ANYTHING! And you know what?? WE DO!!

I just want to say thanks to anyone who reads this- it really makes my day to see comments and see those of you who stop by. I hope that you leave with a smile on your face and maybe some new goals or ideas to make your days a little brighter!

The wonderful thing about each day is that it is a fresh start and all the goals and dreams we have?
We just have to DEW IT!

Sorry I was gone!

Well, we had to go out of town this week- my husband is trying to get into graduate school so we took a family trip to one of his interviews! Between making sure I had all my homework caught up on, packing for 4 people and all that fun jazz I didn't get a chance to catch up on my posts!!

To make up for I have uploaded all my holiday tiles that I have completed so far over on the Tile Page!!
Check them out and let me know what you think!!

I am planning on getting some fun ones out for St. Patty's Day!

Hope you all are either safe from the winter snows or enjoying your warmer weather!

It looks like a blizzard outside here in Wyoming!
