Christmas Advent Day Two

I hope you are all ready for Day 2 of our Christmas Advent!

Isaiah 7: 14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

and
Alma 7:10
And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

How did Isaiah and Alma know what would happen?
Why is it important that they did?

Christmas Advent Event!

Hi! I am totally excited about the next 25 days! Christmas is more than just a day- it is a season to keep throughout the whole year! A line from my favorite movie

"Where you find LOVE it feels like Christmas!"

I have spent the last couple of years trying out different advents in search of the one for my family. I came to the conclusion that we all are looking for different things in our Christmas celebrations and I am going to share the one I have created with you.

I don't know if it will be completely the same next year- I am sure many will - but I am hoping that as time goes by I can adapt this to the needs of my family as they come.

I hope you enjoy it too!!

To begin- you need your calender!

What you will need:

Cardstock
Tape/glue
Garland/String/ Something to hang in up with

Directions:

Print out the calender on the cardstock. Cut out the envelopes on the solid lines and fold on the dotted so that the text is on the INSIDE of the envelope. Tape or glue shut (if you want this reusable you may want to go with the tape)

Next adhere the numbers to the envelopes- you can count up or countdown- your choice!! This year I decided to count up so I could keep track!

Now hang it up!! You are ready to go!!

You could hide them in your tree:

Or on a pretty garland:

I would LOVE to see what you decide to do with it!!!

**** UPDATE*** Day 16 has the numbers reversed- the scripture should be Isaiah 9:6****

Day One
(Twenty-Five)

John 3: 16

Why was Jesus Christ sent to earth?

Thanksgiving Day 4

Today I am so thankful for modern medicine- especially ibprofen! My little guy has the flu today- completely no fun! As I am writing this he has been taking a nap for the last 4 hours!!!

He was cranky and ibuprofen helped him feel better- enough to get some good sleep.

i am looking forward to getting my little guy's smile back!!

What is on your list today?

Thanksgiving Day 3

Today I am thankful for my wonderful husband. He works so hard to support our family and it is the little things he says and does that really make my day! He remembers anniversaries and birthdays- sometimes better than be and is the most patient person I have ever met! he is a great dad and loves nothing more that spending time with his family!

This December we will celebrate our 5 year anniversary and I am just so happy to be with my soul-mate for all eternity!

Love you Honey!

Thanksgiving Day 2

Today I am grateful for my two little guys- Nathan and Ammon. They bring so much joy into my life- their precious smiles, forgiving natures and trusting hope remind me that I need to be more like them then I realize sometimes! Children are the best examples sometimes :) Here are some pics of my boys that I just want to share ;)

What are you thankful for today?

30 Days of Thankgiving!

So here we are back again for the 30 Days of Thanksgiving! Each day I will post something that I am thankful for and maybe some fall craft and activities our family has been doing together- since family is the MOST important!!

To start this month- I am going to say that I am so thankful to be up and around today! Yesterday, my husband and I both were SUPER sick with the flu- not the throw up kind- the kind where you just ache and ache and just want to sleep. I feel a little bad that our kids missed our out on the Trick or Treating this year- but there is always next year :) And we had a special visit from the 'Great Pumpkin' that brought some candy so I am sure all is forgiven!

Thankfully our library had a little trick or treat last week so- they weren't completely deprived.

So why don't you join with me on this journey to record 30 days of blessings as we come to celebrate Thanksgiving. I have my children do it too- I can't wait to see what they come up with this year!

Oh and here is the printable I created last year for my kids to use- go ahead and print one for you!

Just click on the images and save to your computer- I put mine a dollar store frame and easy peasy :)

Happy 4th of July!!!

Every year growing up, the 4th was a BIG deal!

My grandma put on a community play called

'Our Country 'Tis of Thee'

for all the kids and of course I got to be in it!!

Here is a brief run through- I love it!!

(I am the little girl on the right who says 'We can do it mister"- wasn't I cute! )

I still sing the songs every year and HAVE to have root bear floats- just my family traditions from childhood

What traditions do you have?

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!!

4th of July Jello!

Today is July 1st!! I LOVE the 4th of July and so I have a few Red, White and Blue goodies to share with you the next few days :)

Today is red, white and blue jello- because come on- its just awesome!

I also have a really cool flag mold I bought from Kraft but I am sure you could do this in a 9 X 13 the layers just might be a little thinner :)

Flag Jello

4 cups boiling water
2 pkgs. (3 oz each) a blue jello
2 pkgs. (3 oz each) a red jello
3 cups cold water
1 pkg. (3 oz) lemon jello
1 tub (8oz) whipped topping

In a medium bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups boiling water with the blue jello. Mix until dissolved.
Repeat in separate bowl with red jello.

Then stir 1 1/2 cups cold water into each bowl and mix.

Spray flag mold (or pan) with non stick spray and pour red jello into it. Refrigerate 45 minutes until set but NOT FIRM.

Refrigerate blue jello in bowl.

After 20 minutes, dissolve lemon jello in 1 cup boiling water in bowl. Refrigerate 25 minutes until slightly thickened.

Whisk whipped topping into lemon jello

Spread over red layer in mold (or pan). Refrigerate 10 minutes until set but not firm. Pour blue jello on top.

(sorry no pics- missed it!)

Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.

To unmold- dip mold in warm water for about 15 seconds. Then gently pull mold away from jello. Place plate on top of mold and invert in one smooth motion. Gently shake to release jello from mold.

(I used a tin foil covered cookie sheet)

Decorate and serve!

I just love the layers!

and the white middle is not too sweet and oh so yummy!!

Hope you enjoy!!

HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!
